WoW x Daddy's Birthday!

11th April 2013; Out to Arab Street with my international freshies!
It was an awesome day out with them cause it's really heart-warming to see them being engaged in the activities and experiencing a foreign culture.
Our very first stop was a mosque named "Masjid Sultan".
It was pretty cool to really "visit" it as normally I would just walk past there while heading down to Haji Lane.
Talk about me being a Singaporean. sigh*

It was pretty crowded on the day itself, seeing primary school kids as well as Japanese tour groups visiting the mosque too.
So, being a not-so-experienced Singaporean, I admit I seemed like a tourist when I got there. shy*
What I found out about the mosque was that...
1)It's the biggest mosque in Singapore.
2)Architecture infused by 3 different cultures: Indian, Malay as well as certain South East Asia elements.

Dumb me finds it pretty cool ^^
Basically, following the religion of a Muslim, we had to be well-covered in order to enter the mosque as a form of respect.
My dear freshies happened to be wearing shorts...

Look what they've got:

Pretty cool? To me, it was :)

Thanks for wearing it freshies! <3

And tourist Cynthia's ootd:

Abercrombie Pink-striped top x
super skinny jeans from Bershka x

She's such a cutie and really nice girl! Glad to have her in my group.
Well, practically everyone :)

We had treasure hunt today for the groups!
Unscrambled the puzzle pieces and a wonderful group photo appeared :)

WoW Market Preparation

Just look at my freshies trying their best to decorate the booth! You guys are AWESOME!

FRESHIES SAY: "CHEESE"
(which makes me think of Mozzarella on Pizza. Yummz)

Say Hello to my favorite Kaya Traditional Toast from Toastbox!
Poor me gotta eat this as I was reserving space for my buffet dinner.
(okay, enough of the greedy me.)

Awesome friend & GL of mine in WoW ! Say Hi to Jasmine :)
I think she was one of the caring GLs hehe.

A quiet yet friendly freshie called Hakri! Say hello to him :)
He's awesome too!

Oh , hello to my future AMS freshie! Ni hao!

Fang Cie from Group 15! :)

All I've got to say is that I'm pretty sad that WoW ended so... quickly.
I've got to admit the first few days I would just say it's pretty boring, excluding the MASS DANCE which is awesome to da bombz.
To all the freshies, you guys are awesome max okay.
I've never expected myself to take up the role of a GL.
You guys made a dream of mine came true, and I'm pretty glad that I've lasted throughout the 5 days.
I ain't sure whether I was considered a good/bad GL...
Would you guys rate it for me? :)
(you can leave a comment at the bottom if you want to.)

I just hope that all the freshies really enjoyed themselves throughout the week and take good care of yourselves after all that shouting & cheerings!
Cheers to your life in TP!
(would always be here if you guys need it.)

Moving on... Papa Lim's birthday celebration in advance!

Papa Lim & Mama Ho's couple shot! :)
(realized the sunset caused my mum's spectacles to give her the gangster look.)

okay... I was famished. The only photo that I took at Sakura International Buffet (Yio Chu Kang Outlet) was only that piece of meat.
The rest...ALL IN MY TUMMY CHURNING.
Anyway, we paid about 32-33 bux per pax for the dinner on a Friday night.
More information can be found here!

Baking with Rengie.

A day well-spent.

Nothing beats spending a day well with a precious friend of yours.
I spent it well with my dearest friend Rengie over at my house for some egg tarts baking!
Okay, to be frank, I think I really do love to make egg tarts that I just can't stop making it & munching on it. Which is the reason why I try to work out myself sometimes so that you don't feel that "guilty" anymore feasting on such heaty stuff right.

Well, Rengie and I were talking about baking the other day and surprisingly,
SHE WANTED TO BAKE EGG TARTS AND I HAPPENED TO KNOW HOW.
So I teached her today :)

Baking with friends seriously seems like the most awesome stuff that can ever happen in a girl's life besides shopping?
To me, at least(if not all agrees.)

okay, so who is RENGIE?

this is Rengie :)

She is an awesome friend(or I should call sister) whom I've known ever since I was Secondary 2. Which... yes I am soon to be in year 2 of Polytechnic.
Talk about aging, LOL.
Counting back to our friendship...

IT'S PROBABLY LIKE 4 YEARS & STILL COUNTING.

Say HURRAY!

And our baking begins here:

(Before we started on all that hard work, we already got KOI to reward ourselves :D )

Ingredients:

200g of plain flour

55g of Icing/Castor Sugar for baking

1/2 an egg

SCS Unsalted Butter, 140g

Van Houten Baking Chocolate(for experimenting of chocolate egg tarts purpose)

Ingredients mentioned above are for the butter pastry.

For the egg filling of the egg tart:

Water(150ml)

Full Cream Evaporated Milk, 40ml

2 eggs,
60g of sugar.

Extra things needed:

Cutie pie baking casings to live up this HAPPY BAKING MOOD :)
Bought at Daiso for 2 bucks! Definitely worth a buy.

Measuring the amount of butter, flour, sugar needed for the butter pastry.

Put in the:

 butter(140g),
icing/castor sugar(55g),
flour(200g)
half an egg.

into a mixing bowl.
After doing so, knead with both hands.

Oh that's me! Kneading the dough.
okay apparently this photo is posed and not candid. (action but I really did the work! with the hippopotamus Rengie.)

After the dough is kneaded, place it in the refrigerator for about 20 mins to let it sleep before it goes for a sauna in the oven HAHA.

Keep it warm with its blanket(cling wrap) too.

(Rengie posing with her baby!)

So while your baby is sleeping, we've got to start on the egg filling.

Remember the 150ml of water and 60g of sugar?
Dissolve the sugar by boiling it in the water.

(that's me again. Dissolving the sugar water.)

Once the sugar is fully dissolved in the water, leave the hot pipin' sugar water under the fan to cool.

After cooling it, pour in 40ml of evaporated milk as well as 2 eggs(together with the egg yolks)

(There's 4 yolks as we did double the portion.)

You will get something like this!

Mix it well together with a whisk.
Apologies for no photographs for the end product of the mixture!
But it will apear yellowish( seemingly like a mango pudding colour)

HEY, remember your baby that's sleeping in the fridge?

Take it out and mould it into those cutie pies!

Tadah! What else can I say? It's awesome cause it's made filled with l❤ve.

Pour in the egg filling into the butter pastries!

(Hippopotamus Rengie at work!)

(this baking chocolate is definitely not compulsory!)

Itchy handed us decided to try out chocolate egg tarts by ourselves :)

We sent the poor egg tarts for same tanning & sauna session for let's say... 20mins?

WOW, they definitely look HOT.

Purpose of this photo...
of course it's to showcase that cute bear casing that I bought!

How the inner of the egg tarts look like to give you a rough idea of how your end product will be :)
In any other case, you can use a toothpick to poke your egg tarts and see if the toothpick remains standing!
If it is, it's probably done!
If it does not, oops. Got to keep on heating it :)

Happy girls with final product!! :))))
Just look at those smiles. It's an achievement!

Sneak peek of our chocolate egg tarts.

Behind the scenes:

My mom.

Caught me taking a snapshot of her oops :)

While waiting for the egg tarts... erh hem. We just can't resist the temptation of taking best friend's shot together isn't it? :)

And with an itchy-handed daughter, comes the itchy-handed mom...

who secretly took a snapshot of me while I was busy HAHA.
Thanks mom!

So that was how my day ended... trying and testing out my egg tarts.
Hope your day was great too :)

goodbye.

15 days to the end of my holidays.

This holiday... I would say it was a meaningful one.
But, it doesn't feel accomplished.
Besides Vietnam trip, I wondered what else have I been doing.
Going out? Household chores? Rolling around my house like a sushi?
I wondered. Perhaps it's really time for me to get my ass out of the house and start doing some real work.
My money is flowing out like a tap that has malfunctioned.
Which I think I have no control.
O' well, what has passed already passed.
I need to cherish this last 2 weeks before hell begins.

22nd April: Start of Year 2.

Did someone mention the word "fast"?
I guess I just did.
Sigh pie chicken pie, I can't believe I'm into year 2 of Polytechnic life.
How fast can that be.
I'm.. no longer a freshie :(
But pretty excited to see all the freshies.
WELCOME TO TP FAMILY!

3rd May: Rabbit Hole Play!

This got me really excited for this upcoming May.
I have been reading about the synopsis of this play & it seriously got me all hyped up! :)
What's da good news?
I've gotten the tickets!!!
And will be watching it with schoolmates!
OHSOEXCITED.
*secretly prays that this day comes fast but slows down on the actual play*

Relive.

Time to relive.
I finally met up with this pretty girl of mine, Rengie :)
It has been probably 2-3 years since we last met up together.
I remembered how we first met when we were secondary 2 back then and now, woah.
We are in Year 2 of polytechnic life(approaching).
I want to say I really cherish this friendship a lot and I do hope the years will never stop counting :)
Thanks for making this day of mine so exciting!
Let the pictures talk:

Virgin experience of Blackball, Bugis + outlet. I would say it's not too bad, but I would pretty much prefer the original ones over at Lau Pa Sat(Raffles Place).
Fenyuans soaked in cheng teng, what more can I say :)
Anyway, it is worth a try!
For the store locations and menu, visit their web below :)

Thanks for meeting up, BFF :)

Polaroid with my cutie pie Gie :)

Nihon Mura at Cineleisure! $1.50 for each plate, AWESOME-NESS!
