daisy Travels: Taipei Day 4 & our very last day!

All good things got to come to an end.
Very soon, we were down to the last day of our trip :(
It was a free & easy day for us, which we left specially to go back to any places that we wish to go to.

To fuel ourselves up for the day ahead, we had dimsum for breakkie!

This restaurant can be easily located at the 2nd level of Taipei Main Station!

Totoro looking pretty interested by our porridge.
Hmmm...too bad there's none for you :p
It was fish porridge and it smells good with the soup broth infused in it!

Talk about dimsum, you just can't miss out on dumplings don't you!
I love dimsum, especially wrapped ones as each bite feels like a surprise!
You know, like how xiao long bao surprises you with a soup broth and the meat underneath those thin skin which surprisingly holds everything well?

Revealing those inner beauty of that dumpling.
I believe it was like chives dumpling which not everyone might fancy, but I loved it!
With a touch of vinegar and ginger, chives taste is well-complemented.
Yumz and thumbs up!

Dim sum is not only complete with Prawn dumplings (Har Gow), Siew Mai (Chicken with Prawn dumplings) and your usual chee cheong fun.
Where's those buns hiding to!

You know how char siew bao has 2 variations?

Looking pretty, neat and fancy.
And the other kind...

And this is my kind of bao!
I love how it looks "exploded" making it even fluffier and the ingredients oozing out from those white fluffy skin.
Bring me a time machine to that time, or...delivery to my house please!
Would love to have some for my breakkie :p

After a heart-warming and satisfying meal, we went out for a breather and wow the sight is really amazing.

Such bustling city sights.
The reason why I love cameras;
to capture moments and share this moment with the others as though they are looking through my eyes.
I hope you feel my emotions when you see these photos!

So we hopped to Zhong Xiao Fu Xing just to find a DBS Bank.
And these alleys seems perfect for our #ootd shots with those bikes and rustic walls.

We got hungry again and grabbed some bread to satisfy our tummies!
Just so you know, my sister and I love bread so much because it's so fluffy and chewy!
and it emits out a warm feeling.
As if there's love from it <3
Or probably the one you're eating it with hehe.

This seems like some yam bread.

Sesame bread.
With Xi Men Ding being one of our favourite spot in Taipei, we went back again for the very last time before we leave this land of ours :(

During our past few visits, we passed by this pasta shop every single time and were tempted to try it but we always opted for something that we were craving for even more.
But this time, we finally agreed upon it!

Both of us ordered a set meal and I would say the pasta was pretty good for it's price and the fact that it has a few restaurant chains; which means the quality might actually deteriorate.
However, the sides like the minestrone and garlic bread was not really to our expectations :(

Amidst the crowded streets,

I'm glad to have her here with me *inserts shy face*
And tadah!
We spotted the legendary grilled mochi shop in Xi Men Ding!
No doubt, there was a queue that was never ending.

And there are so many flavors to choose from.
From my memory:
Sweet selections: Matcha, Black Sesame, Condensed Milk, Peanut, Cheese, Chocolate, Brown Sugar
Savory selections: Plum, Spicy Thai Sauce, Japanese Soy Sauce, Barbecue Sauce, Thai Curry

We decided to have the mochi as desserts so we chose Matcha and the Peanut flavored ones!

Drizzled with condensed milk and peanut crumbs.
The condensed milk turned liquid-like upon landing on the hot mochi, while the crunchy and powdery peanut crumbs just stayed on the mochi.
Seems like its shouting: "Time to chew me!"

The green one was the Matcha flavor, which unfortunately the Matcha taste was not that strong as it was a liquid form of Matcha drizzled over it :(
So remember to keep dipping onto the sauce in the trays!

We were officially stuffed.
But we ought to let fantasies come true too.
My sister and I always loved seeing Japanese cartoons or like dramas/movies and see them eating freshly grilled corn from the street stores in a cold, chilly weather.
Since we are already in that way, why not get a corn!

We got it grilled with barbecue sauce but it was a tad too sweet for our liking.
But still it was a good experience!

--------------------------------------------

And the dreaded day arrives.
The moment that we got to end our "popcorntravels" journey to Taipei...

While we had time to spare in the morning,
we visited a nearby coffee chain near to our hotel for some breakfast!

not the best shot as we were rushing for time.
We shared an Eggs Benedict and a Chicken Quesadilla and it was really good!

But the eggs were kind of over cooked so there wasn't a runny feel for it :(
But the Hollandaise sauce deserves a thumbs up!
And can you believe it, this Eggs Benedict only costs about 8 bucks!

And Finn is ready to go back home with us!

Off to the land of Singapore and here I am.

It was a really short yet meaningful trip to Taipei with my sister.
There were disagreements, but we know it was because we cared for each other.
This trip definitely bonded us even closer <3
And certainly looking forward to more "popcorntravels" journey!

I will be making my way to Seoul real soon in about 2 weeks!
Would love to share my experience when I'm back, but stay tuned to my blog for more updates!

cheers,
cynnieco.
